1. About these guidelines
These guidelines apply to everyone in the Circle: members (students who earned their way in) and insiders (people who work, or have worked, in finance). They're part of our Terms of Service, and you accept the short version of them when you join the Circle.
DealPrep brings members and insiders together. We don't employ insiders, and what insiders say is their own view, not the view of their employer or of DealPrep.
2. Be respectful
- Treat everyone with courtesy. Disagree with ideas, not people.
- No harassment, bullying, threats, stalking or unwanted contact. Stop when someone asks you to.
- No discrimination or hate: nothing that targets someone for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability or background.
- No sexual, explicit or violent content, and no sexual or romantic approaches to other members or insiders.
- No spam, advertising, recruiting-fee schemes or selling anything.
- Don't pretend to be someone else, and don't claim a job, firm or qualification you don't have.
3. Keep confidential and personal information private
- Never share, or ask for, confidential or proprietary information about an employer, a deal or a client. Insiders share general insight and career guidance only.
- Don't post other people's personal details (such as their phone number, address or email) or private messages without their permission.
- Don't share your own passwords, bank or card details, or ID documents with anyone in the Circle. DealPrep will never ask you for them.
- Questions to insiders are shown without your name, but anything you write in them is still visible to others, so leave out details that could identify you or someone else.
4. No promises, no payments
- Nobody in the Circle can promise a job, an interview or a referral. Don't ask for one as a favor, and don't suggest one is available.
- Access to the Circle is earned, never bought. Don't ask for, offer or accept money, gifts or favors in exchange for Circle access, a referral, an interview or a job.
- Don't ask members to pay you for sessions or advice through the Circle.
5. Safety in 1:1 sessions
A 1:1 session is a video call between one member and one insider, at a time and link the insider sets after the member's request. DealPrep doesn't host these calls, join them or record them. So please look after yourself and each other:
- Use a standard, professional video platform (such as Zoom or Google Meet) for the call. Be wary of any link that asks you to install software or sign in with an account you don't recognize.
- Keep the session professional and on topic: a mock interview, a resume review or a career chat.
- Don't ask for, or give out, personal contact details (personal phone number, personal email, social media accounts), and don't move the conversation to private messaging apps. Keep arrangements within the DealPrep session request.
- Don't ask for, or offer, money, gifts or favors. Don't suggest meeting in person.
- Don't record the session, take screenshots or share what was said unless everyone on the call has agreed first. In Massachusetts and some other places, secretly recording a call without everyone's knowledge is a crime. [Lawyer to confirm]
- Never share your passwords or financial information.
- You can end a session at any moment if you feel uncomfortable. You don't have to explain.
- If anything feels wrong, report it (see section 8).
Members under 18, see section 7. Insiders must follow these guidelines and the insider code of conduct in section 6 in every contact with members.
6. Insider code of conduct
[Lawyer to confirm: minimum age decision.] Insiders also follow the insider code of conduct in section 7 of the Terms of Service. In short:
- Insiders are adults (18 or older).
- Sessions are professional and use a standard video link set through the session request on DealPrep.
- No private contact, gifts, money or favors, and no meeting in person.
- No recording unless everyone on the call has agreed.
- Insiders must report any safety concern to us, and DealPrep can remove an insider at any time.
7. Members under 18
[Lawyer to confirm: minimum age decision.] If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use DealPrep. In the Circle, please take extra care:
- Tell a parent or guardian before you request a 1:1 session.
- Never share your home address, school, phone number or social media accounts with anyone in the Circle.
- End a session or stop a conversation whenever you want to, and tell us or a trusted adult.
- A parent or guardian can email [CONTACT EMAIL] with any question or concern.
Section 8 of the Terms of Service has more.
8. How to report a concern
There isn't a report button in the Circle yet. For now, email [CONTACT EMAIL]. Tell us who and what you're reporting, where you saw it (a link or the date and place), and what happened. We read every report. Our target for a first reply is [to confirm].
If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
To report copyright infringement, follow the steps in section 11 of the Terms of Service.
9. What happens if the guidelines are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- remove content;
- warn the person;
- suspend or end their Circle membership, or their insider status;
- suspend or close their DealPrep account;
- where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety, tell the relevant authorities. [Lawyer to confirm.]
We may act without warning when someone's safety is at risk. If you think we got it wrong, email [CONTACT EMAIL].
10. Changes
We'll update these guidelines as the Circle grows and change the date at the top.
