A few details on this page, like our contact email, are still being finalized and are marked like [THIS].

The short version

  • We collect what you give us and what you do on DealPrep, and use it to run your studying: plans, practice, feedback and certificates.
  • We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising trackers. We use analytics and error reports, tied to your account ID only, to improve DealPrep and fix problems.
  • A few trusted services help run DealPrep, including an AI provider that grades answers. They only get what they need for that.
  • You can see and change your information, make certificates private, delete voice recordings, and delete your account at any time in Settings.

This summary is here to help; the full text below is what applies.

1. Who we are

DealPrep is run by [OPERATOR LEGAL NAME] ("DealPrep", "we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use DealPrep, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It's part of our Terms of Service.

2. What we collect

Information you give us:

  • Account: your email address, name and password. Passwords are stored by our login provider in a protected (hashed) form; we can't see them. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
  • Profile and setup: things you tell us when you start, such as your school level, major, class year, work experience, the kind of firm you're aiming for, your recruiting date and your career paths.
  • Your content: practice and test answers, mock interview answers (typed, or spoken and turned into text), your story bank, resumes you upload (we keep the text we read from them and the file name), notes, bookmarks and flashcards you create.
  • Circle: your Circle profile and picture, posts, questions, answers, event RSVPs, 1:1 session requests and testimonials. Insiders also give us their title, firm type, bio and topics.
  • Messages you send us, for example a support or deletion request.

Information created as you use DealPrep:

  • Study activity: lessons finished, answers and scores, flashcard reviews and schedules, study plans, streaks, XP, badges and certificates.
  • Readiness Exam integrity: whether you leave the exam window during a real attempt, to keep certificates fair.
  • Voice recordings: only if you turn on saving them. They're deleted automatically after 30 days, and you can delete them sooner.
  • Payments: if you subscribe to Pro, your plan and its status, and a customer ID from our payment processor. Your card details go straight to the processor; we never receive your full card number.
  • Technical information: your timezone (so "today" matches your day), the cookies that keep you logged in, and basic logs our hosting provider keeps, such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request.
  • Usage information: which pages you visit and the main steps you take (for example, starting a practice session or finishing an exam), linked to your account ID but not your name or email. We may also record how you move through pages (session replays) to find confusing spots; anything you type is hidden in these recordings, and we don't record admin or settings pages.
  • Error reports: when something breaks, details of the error, your browser and the page, linked to your account ID, so we can fix it.

3. How we use it

  • To run DealPrep for you: your account, study plan, practice, flashcards, mock interviews, feedback and certificates.
  • To give feedback on your answers using AI.
  • To keep DealPrep fair and safe: exam integrity, Circle moderation, and protecting accounts.
  • To answer your messages and help with problems.
  • To send emails about your account (for example, confirming your email) and, only if you turn them on, study reminders. Every reminder has an unsubscribe link.
  • To understand, in general terms, how DealPrep is used so we can improve it.

We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use it to show you ads.

4. AI features

To grade answers, run mock interviews and give feedback, we send the relevant text (for example, your answer, your interview transcript, or the resume and stories you chose to use) to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it to produce the feedback and returns it to us.

If you answer out loud, your audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider, Deepgram, to turn it into text.

These providers act on our behalf, under their own terms and privacy commitments. Please don't include sensitive personal information you don't want processed in your answers.

5. Who can see your information

  • You. Most of what you do on DealPrep is visible only to you.
  • People you choose: a certificate is private until you make it public, and then anyone with its link can see your name, the path, the dates and (only if you choose) your exact score. A shared Circle member card shows your name, paths and member-since date.
  • Circle members and insiders see your Circle profile and posts. Your questions to insiders are shown without your name. An insider you ask for a 1:1 session sees your request and anything you choose to attach, such as an interview scorecard.
  • DealPrep administrators, when needed to run the service, help you, or keep it safe.
  • Service providers who help run DealPrep (listed below), only for that purpose.
  • Others where the law requires it, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of DealPrep, in which case this policy keeps applying to your information.

The service providers we use:

  • Supabase: database, login and file storage.
  • Vercel: website hosting.
  • Anthropic: AI feedback and grading.
  • Deepgram: turning spoken answers into text.
  • Stripe: payments for DealPrep Pro.
  • PostHog: product analytics and session replays, to see how DealPrep is used and where it's confusing.
  • Sentry: error reports, to find and fix crashes.
  • Resend: study reminder emails, if you turn them on.
  • Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google.

6. Cookies and storage on your device

We use the cookies needed to keep you logged in, and our analytics provider, PostHog, stores an identifier on your device so it can tell visits apart. We also save a couple of preferences on your device, such as light or dark mode and how the voice answer tool works. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't share analytics with advertisers.

7. How long we keep it

  • Most information is kept while your account is open, so your progress and history stay with you.
  • Saved voice recordings are deleted after 30 days.
  • When you delete your account in Settings, your personal information is deleted right away; if you ask us by email, we do it within 30 days. Some copies may remain for a short time in backups, and we keep what the law requires us to keep (for example, payment records, which our payment processor also keeps).
  • Public certificate links stop working once your account is deleted.

8. Your choices and rights

  • See and change your profile at any time in Settings.
  • Make any certificate private, and choose whether it shows your exact score.
  • Turn study reminder emails off, or use the unsubscribe link in any reminder.
  • Delete saved voice recordings at any time from Mock interviews.
  • Delete your account and everything in it at any time in Settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account for you, by emailing [CONTACT EMAIL].

Depending on where you live (for example, California or the European Economic Area), you may have more rights under privacy laws, such as the right to know what we hold, to object to some uses, or to complain to a regulator. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.

9. Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections, access controls that limit who can see what, and by keeping secret keys off your device. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password, and tell us at [CONTACT EMAIL] if you notice anything wrong.

10. Children and teens

DealPrep isn't for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email [CONTACT EMAIL] and we'll delete it. Users from 13 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's permission to use DealPrep.

11. Where your information is stored

DealPrep's servers and our main service providers are in the United States. If you use DealPrep from another country, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

12. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy as DealPrep changes, and change the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect.

13. Contact
